Diet wet food for cats with kidney disease
Chronic kidney failure is the most common disease in older cats.
Chronic kidney disease is often only diagnosed when the actual trigger can no longer be found and 2/3 of the kidney tissue is already permanently damaged. The kidney can compensate for a dysfunction over a long period of time by having healthy parts of the kidney take on the extra work. However, if it is 2/3 destroyed, the corresponding symptoms become noticeable in the animal, as the toxins that the kidneys can no longer excrete accumulate in the body. The cat often suffers from loss of appetite, weight loss, increased thirst and urination, diarrhea, vomiting, poor coat quality, bad breath, pale mucous membranes, etc.
Our tips for using RENAL wet food:
- You can also combine MERAVITAL RENAL wet food with MERAVITAL RENAL dry food. Make sure that your cat always has enough fresh drinking water available.
- Please always offer your cat the food fresh and room temperature, as stale or cold food irritates the stomach and intestines.
- We recommend storing opened canned food in a neutral plastic container in the refrigerator. The oxidation of open cans can lead to a loss of acceptance in the animal.
- Feed small meals often.
- If your cat does not show any appetite, start the treatment with MERAVITAL RENAL wet food, which you can warm up slightly in a water bath (similar to baby food). The smell of heated wet food often arouses the appetite of sick cats.
- Do not feed any other cat food (including treats) during treatment with MERAVITAL RENAL, otherwise the success of the treatment will be jeopardized. You can easily use MERAVITAL RENAL dry food as a snack in between meals.
- In the case of chronic renal insufficiency, MERAVITAL RENAL or a kidney diet must be fed for life. An early kidney diet will extend your cat's life and, above all, the quality of life.
